The Paypal account to which the "Donate" button is linked to on the California Lightweight Crew (hereafter referred to as "the Club") website is not directly connected to the University of California. The Paypal account, which is entitled "California Lightweight Crew," is instead tied to a private account for exclusive Club use, and is monitored and controlled by certain members of the officer staff, including the current President of the Club.
Therefore, donations through Paypal are not tax-deductable. Furthermore, due to fees charged by Paypal (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction), large donations (exceeding $200) and small donations (less than $15) may be better served through contacting the officer staff directly.
California Lightweight Crew will gratefully accept donations of any size; all donors will be recognized and donations will be recognized toward future donor benefits. We are currently trying to raise $5000 to send two 8+s to nationals in the spring of 2005.
